Out of the mouths of babes~

Ty-"Mom, is being a mom hard?"
Me-"It's not easy all the time."
Ty-"You have 5 kids, so you have to do everything like 5 times."
Me-"Yup."
Ty-"That's a lot of work."

Fifty Shades of Grey...Oh My!

I get a text message from my sister-in-law a couple weeks ago out of the blue:

SIL - "Have you heard about the book fifty shades of grey?"
Me - "No., what's it about?"
SIL - "It's about sex, lust, desire..."

Sex, lust, desire?  Well, sounds up my ally.

I proceed to Google "Fifty Shades of Grey"..."mommy-porn" is a recurring adjective.  Mommy-porn, huh?  BDSM themes in a mainstream novel?  Intrigued....I like it already!  I proceed to check Amazon for the reviews.  Yep...this sounds intriguing...moments later the trilogy is purchased, paying more than I ever had for paperback books.  I sure hope these are good and can share them with my sisters who are usually up to a good read now and then.

When the smiling box from Amazon arrives, another sister is drooling wanting to read them.  I decide that I should probably go ahead and let her borrow the books first, as 1) I am about 3/4 through the final Hunger Games book, Mockingjay, and 2) I have house guests arriving the next night for a little over a week.  She reads fast and will surely be done when my guests leave and my sleepless nights return.  In the days to follow, I am being updated with texts from my sisters about how I am going to LOVE this book and how it is just impossible to put down.  By Friday, I have finished Mockingjay just in time for Fifty Shades of Grey to be back in my hands.

I started this book knowing that if my sisters-in-law loved it, so would I.  We have similar tastes in books.  We were all sucked in by the Twilight and Hunger Games series.

My expectations were high...and I was not disappointed.  I finished the book over the course of four nights, staying up way beyond a reasonable bed time for a working mom.  Oh my!  Intense!  I want more!  But...as it is a trilogy, I must now wait for my sister to finish book two, Fifty Shades Darker, so my obsession can continue.  She assures me that book two does not disappoint.  At last status, she has about 50 pages to go so, I'm thinking Mr. Grey and I will meet again by this weekend, perhaps even tomorrow night.

Notes for the adult Twilight Fans ~ The intense relationship between Anastasia Steel and Christian Grey is reminiscent of Bella and Edward..only in a dark and deeply sexual way.  In fact, the formula of the story line is remarkably similar, average, innocent young girl + insanely handsome and mysterious man who is unavailable to everyone but her.  Unbeknown to me at the time I starting reading the book is that is began as Twilight fan fiction.  Explains a lot.  With that said...do not think if you hated Twilight, you will hate Fifty Shades of Grey...it is laced with the sexuality that Twilight lacked and the characters are must more intelligent.

Diet Diaries~ Update 1 week

So today I weighed in and lost 5.5 lbs on this 17 day diet, now with that being said, I did not exercise since I haven't had the okay by the Dr. yet..so this week since it has been 5 weeks since Braedyn was born, I decided to start walking Heckle & Jeckle  (Nicholas & Ty) to school and walk to pick them up.  I figure since gas is over $4.00 a gallon and I have a Tahoe, I should save on money and help loose my bum!  ;)

This past week hasn't been too hard (other than the cereal challenges) and I have found a few new recipes I can have on cycle 1, check out http://www.thedoctorstv.com/forums/527-17-Day-Diet-Recipes  so far I like the cafe mocha, chocolate pudding and I made my own pumpkin pie pudding made with the FF Greek yogurt, 100% real pumpkin and 1 pkt of Truvia..yummmmmmmm!  My cravings have stopped since I keep myself full with veggies rich in fiber, with the walking, I am even more excited to see the scale next Monday.

I will post other recipes I come across, off to watch Dr. Oz and see what other healthy info I can incorporate with this 17 day diet.

c: Take care of you.

17 Day Diet ~ Coo Coo for Cocoa Puffs

Monday I decided to start a diet. A dear friend has lost a lot of weight on The 17 Day Diet and most importantly has kept the weight off...so since I am no longer nursing Braedyn it is safe to do this diet. I have a background in health and fitness from working with Curves as a corporate mentor for 5 years so I am super excited to see how my body handles this weight loss program, and now that I am older, this isn't going to be a joy ride since I love food!! Ok, I said it ..I LOVE FOOD! Hello, my name is Tasha and I'm a foodoholic. :) As I approach the end of my first week, my only struggle is cereal! I wake my boys up and ask what they want for breakfast and it's cereal...Sweet...Easy mornings for me, until I start pouring the first bowl and the aroma of the Fruit Loops start to tease my taste buds. My mouth starts to water, I am so tempted to just eat 1 little loop..yellow, purple, or red? I don't care which one at this point, just one wouldn't hurt right???? Don't do it Tasha - "put the fruit loop down" says the good diet angel on my left shoulder. So after the loop temptation, I still have another bowl to pour, and of course my boys couldn't have the same, so off to round 2 of my cereal struggle. Lord give me strength! ;)

Mommy Moment of the Day

You know you are a mom when:

After a delicious lunch with your bestie and her adorable 4 week old, you leave with the burp rag still attached to your shoulder like it is the hottest Spring accessory off the runway.
